Final Fantasy VII Remake is getting a major PS5 update with a new episode of Yuffie

The world of Final Fantasy VII Remake is getting bigger with a new episode with new characters – like Yuffie Kisaragi – and big changes in the quality of life on PlayStation 5, called Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.

The PS5 version of the game will include a “brand new episode” in which players play as the ninja Yuffie Kisaragi on a mission to infiltrate Shinra Corporation. Along with the new content, the PS5 version is getting an update adding faster load times, a performance mode (which targets 60fps of game play) and a graphics mode for 4K. There is also a new photo mode.

Existing PS4 owners of the original Final Fantasy VII Remake for PS4 you’ll get the PS5 version for free, but you’ll have to pay extra for additional Yuffie content, according to the announcement.

Final Fantasy VII Remake released in April 2020 for PlayStation 4, the first of an as yet unknown number of entries in an episodic retelling of the original game. It focused entirely on Midgar – a sprawling city that lasted only a few hours in the PlayStation version of Final Fantasy VII. In addition to recreating the entire game world, enhancing your characters and adding entirely new stories and characters, VII Remake it also suggested major changes in the canonized history of the game.

In June 2019, producer Yoshinori Kitase said that work on the next edition had already started; details about this have been scarce. Later, Square Enix registered several trademarks, including “Ever Crisis” and “The First Soldier”, which suggested additional calls or remakes on the Final Fantasy VII universe.
