CINCINNATI – (BUSINESS WIRE) – The Fifth Third Bank, National Association received a score of 100 for the sixth consecutive year on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2021 Corporate Equality Index, the country’s most important benchmarking survey and report that measures equality-related corporate policies and practices LGBTQ in the workplace.
“The HRC CEI honor confirms that we are moving in the right direction of cultivating a trusting environment where all ideas are welcomed and where all employees have the power to be authentic,” said Peg Jula, Human Resources Director, Fifth Third Bank.
“This recognition is further evidence of Fifth Third’s continued commitment to inclusion and diversity, including progress in advancing the Bank as a leader in creating a fair workplace for all employees,” said Stephanie Smith, director of inclusion and diversity of Fifth Third Bank.
HRC CEI evaluates companies based on detailed criteria that fall into four central pillars:
-
Non-discrimination policies between commercial entities;
-
Equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families;
-
Support an inclusive culture; and,
-
Corporate social responsibility.
“From the previously unimaginable impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, to a long overdue reckoning with racial injustice, 2020 has been an unprecedented year. Even so, many companies across the country have engaged and continued to prioritize and defend LGBTQ equality, ”said Alphonso David, president of the human rights campaign. “This year has shown us that tools like the CEI are crucial at work to increase equity and inclusion in the workplace, but also that companies must bring these policies and practices to life in real, tangible ways. Thanks to companies that understand that protecting their LGBTQ employees and consumers from discrimination is not just the right thing to do, but the best business decision ”.
