Federal prosecutors said a New York man was arrested on several charges this weekend for his role in the deadly riot by a pro-Trump crowd at the US Capitol earlier this month and for allegedly discussing the assassination of the mayor. According to the press release from the US District Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, Dominic “Spaz” Pezzola, 43, was arrested and charged on Friday for illegal entry, destruction of government property and obstruction of an official case for his alleged criminal activities in the January 6 riot.
A statement supporting a criminal complaint against Pezzola claimed that he had obtained illegal entry to the Capitol building using a shield from the US Capitol Police to break a window.
After entering the building, Pezzola was reportedly caught on film smoking a cigar inside, the statement said, and “saying words in the sense of ‘victory smoke on the Capitol, boys. This is f — ing incredible. I knew we could take this mother —- er [if we] just tried enough. ‘”

Pezzola also, according to the testimony, was seen attending other rallies in Washington last month that “included individuals wearing clothes consistent with the ‘Proud Boys'”, the statement said.
The District of Columbia Public Prosecutor is processing the case together with the Counterterrorism Section of the Department of Justice’s National Security Division. The FBI’s Buffalo Field Office, Albany Field Office and Washington Field Office are also investigating the case.
Friday’s arrest is one of several related to the January 6 riots that have occurred in recent days.
