Feds investigating Roger Stone and Alex Jones over roles in the Capitol revolt

Federal investigators investigating the January 6 Capitol disturbances are investigating whether key allies of former President Donald Trump, including Roger Stone and Alex Jones, played a role in organizing the violence, a law source with knowledge of the NBC investigation said, News on Saturday.

The Washington Post reported for the first time that the possible January 6 roles of Stone, Jones and rally organizer “Stop the Steal” Ali Alexander were being investigated.

The law enforcement source said the charges are unlikely, but that investigators want to gain a broad understanding of any possible instigators.

Stone, a longtime adviser to the president, was pardoned by Trump in December after his 2019 conviction for making false statements, obstruction and tampering with witnesses. Jones is a right-wing conspiracy theorist known for claiming that the shooting at Sandy Hook’s school did not happen.

On Friday, authorities announced that six more people linked to the far-right militia group Oath Keepers had been indicted on planned and coordinated charges in the January 6 deadly attack.
