CORAL GABLES, Florida. – Federal agents shot and killed a person who brandished a gun on Friday in Coral Gables, according to the US Department of Immigration and Customs.
The special agent in charge, Anthony Salisbury of ICE Homeland Security Investigations Miami, said the agents were part of a large-scale financial investigation.
Officer Kelly Denham, a spokeswoman for the Coral Gables Police Department, said the shooting occurred near the intersection of Mantua Avenue and the Alahambra Circle.
A woman who lives in the area said she heard a “commotion” for the first time and, when going out to investigate, heard five to six shots and quickly returned inside her home.
Police officers warned drivers to avoid the South Alhambra Circle and Blue Road area. The crime scene included two silver vehicles: a Chrysler minivan with bullet holes and a pickup truck.
The policemen put a yellow tarp inside the minivan. The driver’s side window was broken and there was glass on the floor and in the driver’s seat.
