There is no indication that a laptop was actually taken from Pelosi’s office. And the FBI says in court records that “the matter is still under investigation”.
In this case, a person who said he was the former romantic partner of Riley June Williams, from Pennsylvania, identified Williams for the FBI on video inside the Capitol building and directed people “up” from Pelosi’s office, according to a statement filed on Sunday supporting Williams’ arrest.
The person told the FBI that “the transfer of the computer’s device to Russia failed for unknown reasons and Williams still has the device or destroyed it,” the statement said.
Williams is not charged with theft. She is only accused of violent entry or disorderly conduct, and of entering the restricted space of the Capitol, the same charges faced by many who participated in the siege that day.
The FBI also noted that Williams had run away and deleted his social media accounts.
