The FBI is “aware” of an American Airlines pilot’s report of a UFO seen flying over northeastern New Mexico earlier this week – but has not been able to confirm whether an investigation is underway, Fox News learned on Thursday.
The pilot was maneuvering a plane bound for Phoenix, Arizona, from Cincinnati, Ohio, on Sunday afternoon when the crew spotted an unusual, fast-moving object flying above them, according to a radio broadcast recorded by Steve Douglass in his blog, Deep Black Horizon.

On Tuesday, American Airlines confirmed to Fox News that the audio transmission was from Flight 2292, but referred other questions to the FBI.
A spokesman for the FBI office in Albuquerque responded to Fox News’s request seeking comment and confirmation on Thursday.

“The FBI is aware of the reported incident,” spokesman Frank Connor wrote in an email. “While our policy is not to confirm or deny investigations, the FBI continuously works with our federal, state, local and tribal partners to share intelligence and protect the public. On Sunday’s radio broadcast, the American Airlines pilot could be heard for the first time asking an unidentified person, probably from air traffic control, if he had “any targets here”.

“We just had something going over us,” adds the pilot. “I hate to say that, but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like a type of cruise missile. It moved very fast and passed over us.”
