Dr. Anthony Fauci looked very gitty during his debut appearance on “The Rachel Maddow Show” on Friday night and suggested that the Trump administration previously “blocked” him from going to the MSNBC program.
“I’ve been wanting to go to your program for months,” Fauci confessed to the liberal star. “You have been asking me to come to your program for months and months and it was just blocked! I mean, let’s call it what it is! It was only blocked because they didn’t like the way you deal with things and they didn’t want me. “
“I mean, it was so clear when [they] sent, ‘Why would you want to go to Rachel Maddow’s show?’ Well, because I like her and she’s very good. ‘It makes no difference. Don’t do that ‘”Fauci continued giggling Maddow.
Fauci told Maddow that he did not think she would “see” the efforts of the Biden government to prevent him from speaking to the press and that she would see “a lot of transparency” from the new leadership in Washington.
“You may not see everyone as often as you wish, but you will not see the deliberate restraint of good people when the press asks for them,” explained Fauci.
Fauci, who was chosen by President Biden to be an adviser to the White House during the transition, previously indicated that working for the new president was “liberating”.
“I can say that I have no pleasure in being in a situation of contradiction with the president, so it was really something that you didn’t feel you could really say and there would be no repercussions on that,” Fauci said Thursday. “The idea that you can come out here and talk about what you know, what the evidence is and what science is, and knowing what it is – let science talk – is a somewhat liberating feeling.”
