Fauci says 20,000 pregnant women received COVID vax without warning sign

Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Wednesday that about 20,000 pregnant women received the COVID-19 vaccine “with no warning sign”.

The leading infectious disease specialist announced the update at a briefing at the White House on Wednesday, adding that both the CDC and the FDA are monitoring the situation.

The guidelines for pregnant women who received the coronavirus vaccine varied, as they did not participate in the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccine trials.

But Fauci said on Wednesday that clinical trials of the COVID-19 vaccine for pregnant women and children are underway, with more to come.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that pregnant women discuss the decision to get vaccinated with their health care provider.

The World Health Organization, however, does not recommend that pregnant women receive the COVID-19 vaccine, unless they are at high risk of exposure.
