Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Thursday that the pace of COVID-19 vaccinations is gaining momentum – and that in April it will be the “hunting season” for virtually everyone to receive the vaccine.
Fauci, who serves as scientific adviser to President Joe Biden, told NBC’s “Today” newspaper that the vaccination rate will increase dramatically over the next two months.
He credits the forthcoming deliveries of the two approved vaccines, Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, the possible approval of a third and the measures taken by the Biden government to increase the country’s ability to deliver doses.
The leading infectious disease specialist in the United States said that “when we get to April,” it will be “the hunting season, meaning that virtually anyone and everyone in any category can start getting vaccinated.”
He warned, however, that it will take “several months more” to logistically deliver the vaccines to adult Americans, but predicted that collective immunity could be achieved in late summer.
