Fauci has a one-word answer to the ‘What’s changed’ question around January 20

Dr. Anthony Fauci finally appeared on The Late Show on Friday for his first pandemic coronavirus interview with Stephen Colbert.

And the country’s leading infectious disease specialist, who is President Joe Biden’s chief medical advisor, wasted no time in seeming to cast a shadow over former President Donald Trump – whose pandemic politicization Fauci has seriously criticized.

“I wanted to have you for a year. We try to serve you almost every week for a year. We could never catch you, ”Colbert told Fauci.

“Around January 20, his schedule really opened up,” continued the dawn host, referring to Biden’s inauguration and Trump’s departure from the White House.

“What has changed?” asked Colbert.

“Everything,” laughed Fauci, annoying Colbert.

“Great, I hope it keeps changing,” replied Colbert.

Elsewhere in the interview, Fauci said the pandemic would “absolutely” end – it was just a matter of when, depending on vaccination programs and people continued to wear masks and social distance.
