MEXICO CITY – A man was arrested in northern Mexico for allegedly beating his three children to death to take revenge on the children’s mother, prosecutors said on Sunday.
The prosecutor’s office in the northern state of Sonora said on Sunday that the boys were 3, 7 and 8 years old. The deaths occurred in the north-central state of Hidalgo on 2 January. The suspect called his own father to tell him what he had done and the grandfather called the police.
The suspect apparently fled to Sonora, but was quickly arrested there and returned to Hidalgo to face the charges.
Prosecutors said the man had an argument with the boys’ mother and killed the children “to cause him great pain”.
“Apparently out of revenge against his wife, he killed his children,” the office said in a statement.
