TO UPDATE: The accident has now been eliminated.
A fatal accident on I-81 north near exit 66 and along the George N. Wade Memorial Bridge is driving traffic backwards, according to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials.
It happened around 4:00 pm on Friday, close to the downtown Harrisburg and Front Street exit. There is a range restriction, 511pa.com is reporting.
The road is currently closed at exit 65, said Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokeswoman Fritzi Schreffler.
Authorities are asking drivers to avoid the area.
