Fashion designer Alexander Wang is accused of sexual assault

NEW YORK, NY - JUNE 5: Alexander Wang attends the world premiere of

Stylist Alexander Wang, 37, has been accused of sexual misconduct in several different accounts, starting with a post that documents stories from anonymous sources on Shit Model Management, an Instagram that offers models a platform to address industry issues.

“Instead of letting these occurrences be swept under the rug, it’s time to do something about it. Stop following @alexwangny & @alexanderwangny to show your support for the victims. It’s time to hold abusers in the fashion industry accountable. Men and trans models are often overlooked in conversations about sexual assault in the fashion industry, but not today. We cannot allow famous people to get away with sexual assault with impunity just because they are on a pedestal. They need to be held accountable like everyone else. ” the post, captioned by a series of screen shots of DMs that detailed records of Alexander Wang’s sexual abuse and his alleged inclination to drug people at parties.

Shit Model Management posted these stories for the first time after model Owen Mooney described how he was groped by Wang at a New York nightclub in 2017 on TikTok. Instagram account Diet Prada also took a stand, reminding followers that the rapper and muse Alexander Wang Azealia Banks shared anonymous posts describing the designer as a sexual predator in 2019. These messages still circulate on the internet, although they have been deleted from the rapper’s page. Wang became known for his Fashion Week afterparties, even creating clothes with slogans or phrases that represent his party ethics – his spring 2018 “Wangover” tiaras may come to mind.

Many anonymous accusers were more specific, describing events in which they wake up in Wang’s bed after drinking molly water mixed with MDMA or passing out from drinking too much alcohol at a post-orchestrated party by Wang. Many male models and trans models described being tapped, beginning with Wang playing them inappropriately in a crowded space.

Even though Alexander Wang and his company representatives have yet to comment, Model Alliance stood up out of respect for Wang’s accusers, offering anyone who needs support a platform to file formal complaints in the industry. “Let’s be clear: the lack of transparency and accountability in the fashion industry leaves all models vulnerable to abuse, regardless of their sex or gender identity,” says the post. In addition to acknowledging these accusations against the popular stylist, who feels a powerful force in fashion, we also encourage anyone who suffers trauma from sexual abuse to speak up – your voice is being heard and we are with you, and no one is exempt from liability .
