Fans want Gina Carano’s Mandalorian character redesigned with Lucy Lawless

After Gina Carano left “The Mandalorian”, fans are already looking for an actress to take her place: Lucy Lawless.

On Wednesday, a Lucasfilm representative confirmed to various media that the 38-year-old actress “is not currently employed by [‘Star Wars’ production company] Lucasfilm “, after being criticized by several social media posts, including one in which she compared today’s political division to events in Nazi Germany.

In addition, the representative said that “there are no plans” for Carano to be hired by the company “in the future”, which means that it is unlikely to appear in future seasons of “The Mandalorian” or any other “Star Wars” content.

The star played Cara Dune, a former rebel gunner in the Disney + sci-fi hit, and fans turned their eyes to Lawless, another famous action star, to take on the character.

Lawless, 52, starred as a titular character in “Xena: Warrior Princess” from 1995 to 2001, which was distributed by NBCUniversal Television.

“Listen to me, casting Lucy Lawless as Cara Dune would sell SO MANY action figures,” a fan tweeted. “I’m just saying. It would bring a lot of bank.”

“What if Lucy Lawless came out as Cara Dune and we all just pretended that she was always Cara Dune?” suggested another.

Some fans were dissatisfied with Carano’s departure and used the hashtag #CancelDisneyPlus, but one fan thought it was worth ignoring.

“Instead of #canceldisneyplus, can they just cast Lucy Lawless as Cara Dune and pretend it was her all the time?” they said.

Yet another added: “Ooh, I’m all for Cara Dune’s makeover with Lucy Lawless :)”

Reps for Lawless did not immediately respond to Fox News’s request for comment.

Lawless also played Lucretia in the series “Sparticus” and, by IMDb, has already made his debut in “Star Wars” giving voice to the character Aeosian Queen in “Star Wars Resistance”.

There were a handful of other names being used by fans to replace the star as well.

“Okay, I would be fine with Lucy Lawless as Cara Dune, but Michelle Rodriguez is right there and she would be perfect,” wrote a viewer.

“Redo Cara Dune with Ronda Rousey and don’t tell anyone,” said another.

After Carano was pulled from his role, a similar 2018 tweet from “Mandalorian” star Pedro Pascal, doing essentially the same thing, was discovered on Thursday, leaving fans confused as to why only one of the actors was punished and with many critics pointing out hypocrisy.

Columnist and radio host Tim Young described this as a double standard plaguing the popular ‘Star Wars’ spinoff.

“There is a clear hypocrisy at Lucasfilm, where Pedro Pascal can hyperbolically compare Trump’s policy with Nazi Germany, but Gina Carano can’t even get fired. The conservatives on the Hollywood black list are already known – now we can confirm,” Young told Fox News.
