Tammy’s continued weight gain left her doctor and family deeply concerned. Smith believes his patient is dealing with a food addiction and that she needs therapy to deal with the underlying causes of her eating problems.

“It’s really a serious life-and-death situation for her,” says Tammy’s brother, Chris Combs.
