Playboi Carti’s new album has fans seeing red.
“Whole Lotta Red” is Carti’s long-awaited second album, a continuation of “Die Lit”, her debut album released in 2018 that rose to third place on the Billboard charts. But the two dozen new tracks – including collaborations with Kanye West and Kid Cudi – are being welcomed like a piece of coal.
“I’m begging you, stop making music,” begged a disappointed fan in a rant full of profanity. Other claimed dull music “would ruin Christmas”.
Dissatisfied listeners on social media also vented their frustration by reformulating the album title and calling it “Whole Lotta Skips. ”
Even Iggy Azalea, the mother of Playboi Carti’s son Onyx, entered the pile, attacking the hip-hop artist for missing his son’s first Christmas. “What a pity that you released an album, but you can’t even come to Christmas with your own son”, scoffed the singer “Fancy” in a series of tweets.
“To clarify, this man was literally at my house last night saying he loves me,” added the Australian singer.
The grumpy 24-year-old rapper – whose real name is Jordan Terrell Carter – released the artwork for his second album earlier this week, writing online, “I t0LD U! I L0v3 u, PRE 0RDeR NOW. ”The cover art for the fast track includes a vampire portrait of the Atlanta-born artist who is an A $ AP Rocky disciple and known for his punk-gothic style. Promotional earnings along with the album’s release include $ 20 vampire fangs, satanic T-shirts and a $ 100 Bloodsucker skate deck.
Last month, Carti appeared on popular tracks alongside Lil Yachty on that singer’s luxury album, “Lil Yachty 3.5”, along with member of Migos Future. He also made an appearance on Drake’s single “Pain 1993” earlier this year. These songs were well received – as opposed to the batch of collaborations on “Whole Lotta Red”, which includes “Go2DaMoon” with Kanye West, who raps, “I promised Playboi that we would release the tape before the weekend.”
“Whole Lotta Red” also features a duet with Future, “Teen X” and a cameo by Kid Cudi, as well as solo performances on songs like “F33l Lik3 Dyin” and “Meh”.
However, some fans are really willing to give the SoundCloud star a second chance, crossing his fingers to release a more satisfying special edition album. Wrote a hopeful stan, “Let’s pray that Carti adds all the leaks to Deluxe.”
