First, the first: Netflix hasn’t * officially * been renewed yet Bridgerton for a second season, although it’s probably only a matter of time before the announcement is made. Leaving aside the program’s immediate popularity, according to WhatsonNetflix.com, BridgertonThe production schedule, which was found in Production Weekly, indicated that the second season was actually set to start shooting in Uxbridge, England, in July 2020. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, production would have to be postponed until March 2021.

With all this in mind, it’s possible that fans will have to wait until 2022 to see what happens next. At this point, however, this is only an estimate. We will share more details as they become available next month.

Sure, Bridgerton Season 1 characters, Daphne and Simon, are not going anywhere, which means Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Webpage will be back for season 2 (again, assuming a second season happens). Unless you tell us otherwise in the near future, the actors below should also return in some capacity:

  • Nicola Coughlan like Penelope Featherington

  • Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton

  • Luke Newton like Colin Bridgerton

  • Claudia Jessie like Eloise Bridgerton

  • Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton

  • Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton

  • Polly Walker like Lady Portia Featherington

  • Adjoa Andoh like Lady Danbury

  • Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte

  • Ruby Barker like Marina Thompson

  • Jessica Madsen like Cressida Cowper

although Bridgerton already has a considerable cast, it is likely to get even bigger. “I think there are a lot of good stories to be told in this world,” Regé-Jean told OprahMag.com about a possible second season. “There are a multitude of characters and each of these characters has cousins, uncles and dogs, and I think people like to explore all these depths, nooks and crannies.”

Is there a spoiler for season 2?

If you are a Julia Quinn romance enthusiast, then you probably realized the meaning of the little bee at the end of the second season. In Julia’s second book, The viscount who loved me, Anthony becomes Viscount Bridgerton when his father suddenly dies from a bee sting. Throughout the rest of the novel, bees become an important part of the story when Anthony’s love interest, Kate Sheffield, is stung by one of them later in the book.

Assuming the series continues to follow the novels (the first season correlated to the events unfolding in Julia’s Bridgerton first book, The duke and me), there’s a good chance that Season 2 will focus much more on Anthony’s quest to find the perfect match than on Simon and Daphne’s life together.

Showrunner Chris Van Dusen practically confirmed that this is the case when talking to Collider.com about the future of the show. “I think we did some work in the first season to define other characters. We really dig into Anthony’s love story. We are really exploring Benedict too, and Collin, and Eloise’s relationship. I think it’s a deep well of history for us explore, “he said.

In fact, Chris hopes that all eight novels – each focusing on a different character’s journey to find love – will eventually have their own season on Netflix.
