Fan return, opportunity in progress, makes Aaron Rodgers ‘a little emotional’

“Definitely a little emotional, just thinking about what we’ve been through,” said Rodgers, referring to the pandemic season. “It touched me with the crowd outside today. I am very happy with everything that happened today.”

He has every right to be. The Packers hit and passed the ball with impressive efficiency against the league’s best defense.

They ran 188 yards, shot 296, were not looted or overturned, and performed situationally as they did throughout the season, converting two-thirds of their third downs (8-to-12) and three-quarters of their red zone chances until the final knees near the LA 10-yard line, after the two-minute warning officially make them 3 in 5.

That was when Rodgers serenaded the MVP’s screams, and he silently absorbed them as another piece of this strange and remarkable season for the treasure.

“It’s hard to put into words how special that feeling is,” said Rodgers. “But you can feel it. It’s so palpable. You can feel it in the stadium. It’s just different. It’s different to play in front of a crowd. Yeah.”

There will be another one next Sunday to watch Rodgers play for a Super Bowl spot at Lambeau Field. He’s patiently waiting for that chance.

“It will be exciting to enjoy tonight, celebrate and then watch tomorrow’s game,” he said, “and to know that whoever wins will come to our home.”
