BEVERLY HILLS, CA – A famous plastic surgeon, Dr. Payman Simoni, died last week after contracting the coronavirus from a patient to whom he was giving lip injections. He was 50 years old.
The Beverly Hills community was mourning the loss of Simoni, who owned an office on North Rodeo Drive. Simoni was considered one of the leading nose surgeons in the area, according to his website.
After contracting the virus, Simoni quickly fell ill and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. While in the hospital, his symptoms worsened and he was put into an induced coma before he died of cerebral hemorrhage on January 15, TMZ reported.
The patient’s temperature was measured before the appointment, but days after she left, she called Simoni’s office to inform the team of her positive coronavirus diagnosis. Simoni was wearing a mask during the procedure, according to several reports.
Simoni appeared on “The Doctors” and was listed on his website as “one of the top 5 plastic surgeons in Hollywood”.
In the spring of 2020, the Centers for Disease Control recommended that health facilities prioritize emergency visits and interrupt elective procedures to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
In May, they issued guidelines for institutions seeking to resume elective care services.
California health officials are asking residents to stay at home now more than ever, especially in Los Angeles, where cases have recently passed the 1 million mark.
The county reported a total of 1,014,662 cases, with 11,366 new cases registered on Sunday.
