Arthur Smith is the new coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
The team and the former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator agreed to the terms on Friday, the organization announced. Smith is replacing Dan Quinn and Raheem Morris. Quinn was fired by the Falcons after a difficult start, and Morris was appointed interim coach, but was not promoted.

Smith, 38, has been with the Titans for 10 seasons, including the last two as an offensive coordinator under coach Mike Vrabel. The Titans finished 10th in points scored and 12th in yards won in 2019, and fourth in points scored and second in yards won in 2020. Tennessee made it to the playoffs in both seasons.
Atlanta could use an impulse in the attack, something he hadn’t seen since Kyle Shanahan was commanding the attack.

The Falcons went into the playoffs twice and lost the Super Bowl LI to the New England Patriots in overtime after blowing up a 28-3 lead. Atlanta made it to the playoffs during the 2017 season, but was eliminated from the divisional round. Atlanta hasn’t come back since.
In Quinn’s time, Atlanta finished in the top 10 in yards won five times, but only finished in the top 10 on points scored twice. The team was led by Matt Ryan in the quarterback and Julio Jones in the wide receiver. The team could use another weapon or use its veterans enough to return to the playoffs.
Titans wide receiver AJ Brown gave Smith his Twitter seal of approval.
