Falcon & Winter Soldier ends with the debut of the new MCU Captain America

Anthony Mackie, who plays Falcon at the MCU, says that Phase 4 Captain America will be revealed to the public at the end of the Disney + miniseries.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will reveal who takes on the mantle of Captain America by the end of the series. The next Disney + series follows the namesake duo played by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as they travel the world to fight the anarchists Flag-Smashers. The show is part of a new chapter for the MCU, combining the production quality of the limited series films on Disney’s own streamer. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, the series concerns Chris Evans’ Captain America allies and friends.

At the end of the film, Sam Wilson, also known as Falcon, accepts the iconic Cap shield from an elderly Steve Rogers, apparently accepting his blessing as his successor. Although this appears to be a clean and sentimental transition from one captain to another, there has been talk of Evans’ return as the patriotic super soldier. Mackie, for example, is more than happy to see him return. It may not be so easy to take Captain America’s place yet.

Talking about The Rich Eisen Show, Mackie revealed that the new Captain America will be named at the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. While it may not be an easy ride, the question of “where the shield will end“is the main concern of the series. Mackie did not say who will take on the mantle and the answer may not be who we hope for. Check his full quote below:

At the end of Endgame, Sam did not accept the shield. If you remember, he said to Steve: ‘It doesn’t feel right because this shield is yours’. So, you know, the show is a long way to find out who Captain America will be. Where the shield will end and if it’s Captain America, if that nickname will come back and someone will use that nickname again.

Mackie has cast doubts earlier on whether Falcon will be the next Captain America. Although he seems to accept the shield in Endgame, the responsibility for becoming a symbol of America is great. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier presents the debut of the Marvel hero US Agent, a super soldier originally planned by the government to replace Steve. The Flag-Smashers may not be the only organization working against their desire to pass the shield on to Falcon.

Apparently, Mackie knows everything that will happen in Phase 4 and is excited to see how fans react to everything that is to come. As the old heroes surrender or go on their own journeys, new blood will flood the Avengers and new leaders will face the challenge. As a new multi-film epic is just beginning, the Disney + series as Hawkeye and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will explain the rise of entirely new heroes and successors to the old ones.
