Fake teenage doctor arrested again on fraud charges in Florida

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida. A 23-year-old Florida man who pretended to be a doctor and spent time in prison as a teenager was arrested again on charges of fraud and theft, police said.

Malachi Love-Robinson was released hours after his arrest on Thursday, WPTV reported in West Palm Beach.

According to the police, Love-Robinson asked clients to send money to their personal bank account, rather than to the transportation company for which they worked. He is accused of taking over $ 10,000 that belonged to the company.

A police report said that Love-Robinson sent text messages to the owner of the company, saying that he was really sorry and that he was doing everything he could “to fix it,” the television station reported. “I don’t want to go to jail,” said Love-Robinson, according to the report.

He pleaded guilty to several charges of fraud, theft and unlicensed medical practice stemming from his arrest in 2016.

Patients told investigators that Love-Robinson said he had several degrees, including a Ph.D. and a doctor. They did not know that he was only 18 at the time.

He was accused of stealing $ 35,000 from an elderly patient in 2015, and authorities say he illegally operated a doctor’s office complete with an office, lab coat and stethoscope. He was also later charged with theft.

Love-Robinson insisted that he did not pretend to be a doctor, but a naturopathic doctor.

He served almost 21 months in a maximum security prison near Fort Myers.

The records do not list Love-Robinson’s phone number, nor do they indicate whether he has a lawyer.
