Facebook says ‘configuration change’ caused some users to be disconnected unexpectedly

Facebook says that some users were disconnected from their accounts unexpectedly on Friday due to a “change in configuration”, and the problem was fixed on Saturday morning.

“On January 22, a change in the configuration caused some people to be disconnected from their Facebook accounts. We investigated the problem and fixed it for everyone today. We are sorry for the inconvenience, ”said a Facebook company spokesman in an email to The Verge.

The problems started on Friday (Eastern Time), with users on the r / Facebook Reddit forum reporting that they were receiving “login” requests from their Facebook applications, but had not logged out.

Engadget found that iPhone users seemed the most affected by the logoff issue, noting that Facebook iOS app users were having trouble logging back into their accounts when using two-factor authentication. Most were able to login again, but the required authentication codes took too long to reach users.
