PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Health Services announced on Tuesday that the extreme winter across the country delayed this week’s delivery of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to the state.

Authorities say that because of these delays, some county health departments told ADHS that they had to cancel appointments within the next two days.

The ADHS says there are sufficient doses available for state vaccination sites and other places of administration of the Pfizer vaccine to continue without interruption.

Officials say they are in regular contact with federal and local partners to monitor this situation.

ADHS did not specify which counties informed them of the cancellations or how many commitments would be affected.

Maricopa County says it is not canceling commitments, but will continue to evaluate supplies throughout the day tomorrow and coordinate with ADHS.

ABC15 is working to find out how counties will notify people if their appointment is canceled and if there is an immediate opportunity to reschedule.
