Destiny 2
Bungie
I think the general consensus for Destiny 2’s Season of the Chosen is that it’s starting out pretty strong. Perhaps not necessarily with activities, as the battlefields are good, but nothing particularly innovative. But definitely in terms of loot hunting, with a ton of good new items to go after and a wide variety of places to find them.
We know a little bit about what’s to come this season of the script. Two new battlegrounds and a new Strike, but also an exotic mission promised from Tex Mechanica.
The only thing that has been publicly revealed about the exotic search is that it has something to do with the ship seen below, as it was labeled as part of the “exotic search” in the press kit. But that’s it, there are no other public details of Bungie herself.

But I really wanted to get into datamining today, because I think it will generate a significant amount of hype if you even know the edges of what’s going on here. If you prefer not to know anything, I understand that, and you can go back now. I will not go into story spoilers, but I will talk about the nature of the mission to come and what you get for doing it.
Following are spoilers:
This information comes from the Bungie API and people like Ginsor and Parisito. Here are the outline of what we know about the mission:
- The headline is that supposedly the next Tex Mechanica mission may be something on the scale of the Whisper or Zero Hour mission. Although the Hawkmoon Dam farm had some elements of this, they were still areas where we had already been. This Cabal ship must be an entirely new space.
- It is also quite big space, as far as we know about it, indicating the type of extensive search that we would expect from a search like Whisper or Zero Hour. It also has the “you do the mission first and then unlock the director’s access to it” version, as we’ve seen with these missions in the past.
- Within the mission, there is some kind of “hidden hidden hiding” mechanism to progress faster, perhaps indicating the search for a catalyst or ship.
- The enemies on board appear to be Cabal and Scorn, indicating some kind of conflict there, which would explain the strange appearance of a random Screeb in the Chosen Season trailer.
- There are some indications through the upcoming weekly challenges that May have access to the ship itself in week 3, but the exotic search may not be launched until week 9. So there may be some component of the story here that is not only a secret mission, although the secret mission takes place here.
- The exotic Tex Mechanica here is Dead Man’s Tale, a new reconnaissance rifle, not the First Curse, as many predicted. I still don’t know what its exotic advantages are. The image below is the weapon with an ornament.

To sum up, something very big is coming and it seems very likely to be on the scale of a Zero Hour, in addition to what we saw recently for the Hawkmoon ish Zero Hour farm mission. And that will involve contempt, which we haven’t really dealt with since Forsaken. Who taught them to fly spaceships?
Anyway, I do not regret knowing the information above, as all they do is make me very excited about what is to come. It is possible that we will start to see this ship appear in two weeks, but if not, everything will arrive later in the season. Stay tuned.
