Expanding Xbox Series X controller offering in two new colors

Microsoft is about to expand its controller package with two new color schemes from the New Xbox Wireless Controller, the company announced on Thursday: Electric Volt and Daystrike Camo.

The Electric Volt controller will be the first of the two colors to hit the market. As of April 27, players can purchase the vibrant yellow-green controller for $ 64.99. It features the new Xbox Wireless Controller share button and the hybrid D-pad. There is also a textured handle next to the triggers, bumpers and the rear of the controller.

The Daystrike Camo controller will not arrive until May 4 and will run fans for $ 69.99 – the same price as the company’s other camouflaged controllers. The Daystrike Camo gamepad offers the same features as other Xbox wireless controllers. However, it also comes with a textured handle on top of the bumper buttons – for the first time, according to Microsoft. The camouflage print features gray, black and two different shades of red.

Another novelty – for both gamepads – is that “a part” of the controllers will consist of post-consumer recycled resins. These are essentially recycled materials previously used in plastic items, like water jugs or CDs. Microsoft assured Xbox fans in the announcement article that these recycled resins will perform as well as the company’s previous materials, at the same time. time that reduce waste.

As always, these new controllers will work with Bluetooth devices, Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Microsoft has also updated its hardware store with Xbox products that have color schemes similar to those of the new controllers.

Are these two controller schemes ugly? It is not for us to say that. But Microsoft’s growing range of control colors – charming and not-so-charming – is a far cry from Sony’s monotonous approach to its PlayStation 5 DualSense controller. Keep your head up, extremely bright yellow-green controller: at least you it is something new.
