Maryland Teacher Tutors is expanding its teacher-led program to South Carolina.

The program, founded by CEO and former professor Natalie Mangrum in 2015, offers individual tutoring, group learning pods and academic coaching with current and past certified teachers. South Carolina’s Tutoring branch will be led by Molly Bloom, an educator and Ph.D. candidate at the University of South Carolina.

“Molly was an easy choice to lead our program in South Carolina,” said Mangrum in a press release. “She is a born leader with charisma and an unparalleled passion for education.”

Maryland Teacher Tutors employs more than 150 tutors serving more than 500 families in the metropolitan areas of Baltimore and Washington, DC, according to the statement. Its website says that students earn an average of 1.25 grade levels after three-quarters of private tuition once a week.

Prices for tutoring sessions vary.

“We are thrilled to offer the quality of teaching outside the classroom that South Carolina students deserve during one of the most difficult times in our country’s history,” said Bloom.

South Carolina Teacher Tutors is hiring certified or previously certified state educators.

“The quality and knowledge that results from hiring only certified teachers is the value that we offer to students and communities, whether in person or virtually, and that is what makes our service unique,” said Mangrum.
