Expanded vaccinations will start in the UK on January 4: Telegraph

Oxford and Astrazeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine will be launched across the UK from 4 January, reports the Telegraph, citing plans that ministers are working on. The government expects two million people to receive the first dose of the vaccine in Oxford / Astrazeneca or Pfizer and BioNTech SE.

The publication also reported that mass vaccination centers in sports stadiums and conference venues are due to open in the second week of January. The Oxford vaccine is easier to store and handle than Pfizer’s and will likely make it easier to reach people in isolated parts of the country.

In response to the report, a spokeswoman for the Department of Health told Reuters that the drugs and Health care The Product Regulatory Agency will need time to review the vaccine data.

UK residents have already started receiving the vaccination from Pfizer, with the government reporting that more than 600,000 people received the vaccine between 8 and 20 December.
