Executive changes announced at Nike after flap dealer

Sarah Mensah was promoted to Nike on Tuesday, filling a vacancy created by a controversy over tennis fins.

Nike appointed Mensah its new vice president and general manager for North America. A Portland Trail Blazers executive before joining Nike in 2013, Mensah replaces Ann Hebert, who suddenly resigned last week.

Hebert’s departure came days after Bloomberg Businessweek reported on his 19-year-old son and his booming tennis resale business.

Resellers use technology to buy a large number of the most desired tennis models the moment they hit the market and sometimes resell them at great profits. Nike initially said Hebert had done nothing to conflict with company policy and offered no explanation when it decided to resign soon after.

Mensah was one of three senior executive changes announced by Nike on Tuesday.

Amy Montagne will replace Mensah as vice president and general manager for Asia Pacific and Latin America. Montagne joined Nike in 2005 and was named vice president in 2009.

Aaron Cain, a 17-year veteran at the company, has been named vice president and general manager of the men’s category at Nike.

These have been the most senior executive changes made by Nike CEO John Donahoe since February 2020, when he named his initial team of top executives. Donahoe, a longtime member of Nike’s board, was chosen as its new chief executive in October 2019.
