Exclusive: Nathan MacKinnon’s injury not considered serious

It is not serious. That’s the initial word, from some NHL sources, about the injury to Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado Hockey Now can report.

This is where I must insert a “Hey, it’s not yet official, something can change ”, but based on my experience with the people I’m listening to, I believe the story will prove correct in the final analysis.

MacKinnon suffered a mysterious lower body injury in last night’s game with the Minnesota Wild, and there has been no information from the team since. MacKinnon entered the game the night before as the Avs’ top scorer. He is twice runner-up in the NHL Hart Trophy and champion Lady Byng.

We will receive more official news from the Avalanche tomorrow about things, as the team had the day off from all hockey activities today. But for now, it looks like the Avs dodged a bullet in connection with the MacKinnon wound.
