Exclusive: first details about the new Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip

With the launch of the Galaxy S21 out of the way, Samsung fans can now expect the company’s next folding devices. It is expected to launch at least two new foldables this year, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2, assuming that’s what the company decides to call them.

Now we have received the first details about these next devices. It is not yet clear whether the “Lite” variant of the Galaxy Z Fold is also available. There is no evidence of its existence at this time.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 should be released this year

Samsung’s next Galaxy Z Fold device will have the model number SM-F926. It will be available with at least 256 GB of storage. The foldable device will run Android 11 and come with One UI 3.5.

The company’s next shell-foldable smartphone will have the model number SM-F711. It will be available with 128 GB and 256 GB storage options. Android 11 and One UI 3.5 will also be present.

The presence of One UI 3.5 suggests that we cannot see these devices until the second half of this year. Samsung has just launched One UI 3.1 with the Galaxy S21 series and has yet to reach compatible devices. A UI 3.5 is sure to bring some new software features.

In the past two years, Samsung launched its second One UI iteration for the year with the Galaxy Note line. With the future of the Galaxy Note series still in the air, foldables are understandably the most appropriate devices to launch a new One UI version.

We will continue to keep our ears open and present information about the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 as soon as we hear more.
