“We have 40 PS5 on our backs,” said a Target employee who wants to remain anonymous to TechRadar on Wednesday night, hours before the console’s scheduled crash. Noting that stores vary, he noted, “But we only have two PS5 discs and two Xbox Series Xs available.”
This confirms our previous report, starting on Sunday, which detailed the fact that Target stores were amassing PS5 and Xbox consoles to go live this week. The new information – critical to finding these hard-to-buy consoles that sell out in minutes – was first discovered by YouTuber Jake Randall, who specializes in PS5 and Xbox Series X to replenish videos and live streams. So far, he has been adamant with insider information from major retailers in the United States.
When is Target PS5 refueled?
When is Target PS5 refueled? We know the scheduled date, but the refueling time of Target is never part of the communications. In fact, someone at the online store activated one of the ‘Submit’ buttons on Tuesday morning, fooling everyone into thinking that the console was in stock – no one bought it two days ago.
Two weeks ago – a Thursday morning much like today – the refueling of Target’s PS5 took place at exactly 7:47 am EST. And that is the same in all regions of the USA, so the time was 6h47 CST / 5h47 MST / 4:47 PST. This does not mean that it will be at the same time on Thursday, however. It may be sooner or later. There is also an external chance that Target will reschedule this if stores do not meet inventory targets. This is rare.
Important to know: Sometimes, one console goes live before the other, while Target alternates the launch in 15 to 30 minutes.
Our alert will look like this (from two weeks ago):
TechRadar has confirmed that Target employees are preparing for a PS5 refueling this week. We know that refueling the Xbox Series X was also being prepared for the same online ordering process, officials say, although the stock for this console and the PS5 digital edition is less than the PS5 disc in some stores.

This is not the time when Target employees demystified the PS5’s replenishment date and stock status for us. We received an update from several stores, both from the workforce and from attentive customers.
“We have about 8 Xbox consoles and 22 PS5 consoles,” we were told on Sunday in a direct message on Twitter by another Target employee who wants to remain anonymous. Again, at three Target stores, employees told us that there are many more PS5 Disc Editions – and very few zero PS5 Digital Editions for Target’s impending refueling.
Tips for getting a refill of PS5 Target
Critical: Target employees emphasized that we should not go to stores to place orders for either console. These are only ordered online with an in-store pickup option. Essentially, Target doesn’t want crowds of people showing up to roam the halls.

Professional tip: Target orders only online, but allows pick-up at the store. This means that some stores, especially those in big cities, will run out more quickly. Try to adjust the pick-up location if the nearest store runs out.
New information: We also learned that not all stores offer state-of-the-art consoles. Some types “chose not to” receive new shipments since launch, officials said. She may not be willing to deal with the madness of customers who flock to Target stores for their pick-up orders in the store and on the sidewalk.
Target uses its local stores for next-generation console purchases and does not ship from regional stores directly to consumers, as we see at almost every other retailer in the United States. This means that it is more difficult for money changers to buy stock across the country.
Initially, we heard that the PS5 replenishment was this week, as early as Monday from our target warehouse sources, but on Thursday from others. This left open the possibility that it could be at the end of the week, which is exactly what we are seeing. It is up to Target’s corporate headquarters to call store managers.
Since the many Target employees who spoke to us, and the customers who sent us a flood of pictures of kiosks, are from different parts of the United States, this is destined to be a broader national refueling when it happens.
We saw something similar exactly two weeks ago, when the PS5 and Xbox Series X were sold online for pickup at the store. The consoles lasted only a few minutes before Target ran out of stock. Certain regions of the USA have resisted more.
The good news is that it wasn’t that hard to get one of the two consoles compared to what people went through during refueling at Walmart and Best Buy at the end of last week. The Target website and the PS5 and Xbox Series X ordering process require a few attempts to add the consoles to the cart, but it is quite easy to complete the purchase.
Not all stores will have this replenishment. TechRadar went to visit the Herald Square store in Manhattan, and employees there said they don’t usually carry the PlayStation 5. Instead, Harlem’s larger location has been suggested for the next PS5 refueling. Therefore, it may be available store by store.
Based on our reports, calling Target stores may not produce any response about console inventory. Their main phone line includes an automated messaging machine that insists that they do not provide PS5 and Xbox refill information. This tells you something about the volume of calls they are receiving.
TechRadar also has several pictures of boxes behind the scenes at Target showing the inventory of the Xbox Series X and PS5. We initially retained these photos until we could guarantee that there were no marks that could be traced back to our sources.
PS5 Target and Xbox refueling won’t be alone
We saw PS5 Limited and Xbox Series X refuel this week from Costco on Tuesday morning, a big boost for GameStop console packages Tuesday afternoon and a fairly easy-to-buy package from ANTonline on Wednesday. Thousands of people have finally been able to access the console through our alerts.

However, we may not finish after today. Best Buy is accumulating more PS5 and Xbox inventory now, according to the photos we received from its deposits on Monday. Once again, we receive images and edit UPC codes and plaques on the walls that can be traced back to our sources.
Although Target is scheduled for Thursday, we still don’t have an official date for Best Buy. Instead, we know the store’s standard: it’s 3 for 3 to launch refueling of the next generation console on Fridays. Will that give us a quarter – a whole month – helping? That’s what we’re going to look for on Friday afternoon, the usual time for Best Buy to refuel.
Destination PS5 inventory appeared in kiosks
Here’s another indication that consoles are coming: Target customers across the country found that PS5 stock appeared in kiosks on Sunday night before the expected sale. Twitch streamer, MyGuyMcFly, took and uploaded a photo to TechRadar, seen below, showing 18 PS5 consoles in stock at a local Target in Minnesota, suggesting that the store had at least some inventory earlier in the week.

Even more PS5 consoles are stored at a destination in Austin, Texas, with customer Esteban contacting us on Twitter to share a photo in a direct message.
“I went to my local Target a few minutes ago and they have some in stock,” he told us Sunday night. The screen shows more than 25 PS5 consoles in the hands and 41 on the back. None were being sold yet. He noted, “For the PS5 Digital Edition, they are only 6, so I’m probably looking for the disc version.”

What can you do to prepare for the PS5 Target refueling?
You can do two things today . Check the stores below and receive alerts from our PS5 replenishment Twitter tracker.
It will look like:
3. Configure payment and address information in advance
In fact, you can access all four PS5 and Xbox refueling pages now. They are not always listed on the Target home page or in search results, but they keep the same landing page.
$ 399 PS5 Digital Edition at Target – in stock soon
$ 499 PS5 disc editing on target – in stock soon
It is not always the quickest check that resolves (although arriving in time for a PS5 refuel will help a lot). It is about doing as much as possible to put the next generation console in your cart. Adding your payment information and shipping address to your account in advance allows you to SPAM this add to cart button and complete your purchase a little earlier. People found luck using the purchase of Apple Pay.

The PS5 has been nearly impossible to find in stock for more than a few minutes every time stores replenish the Sony console. We are finding that the same can be said about the Xbox Series X. Both Sony and Microsoft launch their respective consoles in November 2020 and have not been able to manufacture enough to meet demand.
Stores like Target, Walmart and Best Buy routinely add new inventories to their stores, and the throng of people who access their websites often blocks the pages. Four months after the initial launch, it’s still a burden to buy a next-generation console, even after months of customers constantly trying their luck.
