The recruit in second place in the history of the South Carolina football program, Jordan Burch, remained silent from the start of the recruitment process until now. There were few interviews given, even during his recruitment, but he took the podium on Monday for the first time as a Gamecocks member.
Burch, who chose to stay home and play football in South Carolina against Georgia and LSU along with several other players, played eight of the ten games last season. A Buck in the old defensive system, Burch recorded 19 tackles in total, with 2.5 of them being tackles for loss. He is still looking for his first quarterback sack, but he has a fumble recovery that has returned for seven yards.
Burch had a tackle for defeat in his first game, which was against Tennessee, but his best game was statistically against Vanderbilt when he had five tackles in total and had his fumble recovery. The former five-star recruit has not played in the last two games of the season due to a hand injury.
While he was close to the former head coach Will Muschamp, Burch says he quickly won the confidence of the current head coach Shane Beamer.
“He’s a nice guy,” said Burch of Beamer. “He is always training smiling. Your stimulating conversation is very good. He is uplifting all the time. “
