Old

M Night Shyamalan climbed his way out of a ditch of his own making by reinventing himself as a low-budget B-movie guy, producing Devil and then directing The Visit and Split after a series of bloated failures. But his worst grand excesses returned to Glass, a reckless sequel to two of his other films. I hope this new one, based on a scary tale about people who age too fast, takes you over the edge. It looks intriguing! In addition to Vicky Krieps!

Paramount Entertainment Mountain

To make its case as the latest entry into the streaming wars, Paramount +, launched on March 4, brings together its core talent (primarily from CBS, as well as other umbrella businesses) to the top of the logo. The meeting on Paramount’s “entertainment mountain” includes Stephen Colbert, Gayle King, Jeff Probst from Survivor, Catherine O’Hara from Schitt’s Creek, Dora the Explorer, DJ Khaled and the real DJ from the frozen party, Spongebob Squarepants.

Lil Nas X “defies logic”

Lil Nas X, star of last year’s arguably nicer commercial (a Doritos dance with Sam Elliott and Sam Elliott’s mustache) returns less boldly this year to Logitech. The Old Town Road singer, sporting a series of technicolor cuts, prides himself on futuristic creators who “defy logic” in images of several young artists, illustrators, an incredible makeup artist and musicians. I’m not sure if Logitech, my 2005 webcam brand, might be cool, but these people certainly are.

M & Ms are the new get-out-jail-free card

Did you kick someone’s plane seat? Manuscript on the concept of honoring? Did you call someone Karen? Call Karen? Nothing an M&M package can’t fix, according to Dan Levy of Schitts Creek and a green M&M kidnapped and about to be eaten.

American award-winning young poet Amanda Gorman, 22, whose performance of her poem The Hill We Climb was almost universally praised in the possession of President Joe Biden last month, recited another impressive original work to honor three heroes: Trimaine Davis, an educator, Suzie Dorner, a nurse and James Martin, a Navy veteran. The NFL named the trio of honorable Super Bowl captains.

Super Bowl poetry is a feat for art and our country, because it means that we are thinking imaginatively about the human connection, even when we feel isolated. I will honor 3 heroes who exemplify the best of this effort. A toast to them, to poetry and to a #SuperBowl like no other 💛

The game is heavily sponsored by this YouTube document and, without wanting to sound like a Negative Nancy, here is our two-star review of it!

Two contrasting styles, two very different voices, an unlikely Super Bowl pair – country star Eric Church and R&B queen Jazmine Sullivan came together for an exciting interpretation of Star Spangled Banner that had both literally banging their fists, in a genre that serves yet another message from the NFL about American unity.

Raya and the Last Dragon

The first drop of Disney night for another film, they are giving a multi-platform launch à la Mulan with Disney + customers able to spend stupid money to watch a movie at home that has been scheduled for the cinema. It looks like lower-level Disney, sort of like The Good Dinosaur, but it’s another vital step in a more diverse direction with a voice cast that includes Kelly Marie Tran, Awkwafina, Gemma Chan, Daniel Dae Kim, Benedict Wong and Sandra Oh.
