Everything about the 10.1.0 patch for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate viewed by Beefy Smash Doods

The Super Smash Bros. 10.1.0 patch. Ultimate seemed well below expectations for those who expected major adjustments to the game’s balance. In addition to adding Sephiroth to the game list for those who never completed the Sephiroth Challenge while it was available, this patch mainly focused on making multi-hit moves behave more consistently.

However, there was a peculiar change with Olimar that probably doesn’t make sense to anyone who hasn’t played for Olimar in two years. “After launching a Pikmin with a side smash attack or side special, if there are other Pikmin close by when using the special, an air attack using a Pikmin will occur.” The Beefy Smash Doods recently uploaded a video that shows exactly what this and other 10.1.0 changes mean during the game.

Essentially, any of Olimar’s antennas involving Pikmin – frontal aerial, descending aerial, ascending aerial and posterior aerial – would fail previously if Olimar introduced the appropriate command during a situation where special was active and Pikmin was away from Olimar as a result of use forward or special side breaks.

Interestingly, this particular change was implemented in the 10.0.0 patch. We are just being informed about the correction in the notes for the 10.1.0 update.

Some people are saying that Fox McCloud was the “big winner” of the patch thanks to the improvements to the hitbox for its front and down antenna. These attacks are important to Fox because they allow specific hitconfirms in moves that they knocked out.
