Everyone loved watching Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen get drunk on NYE

With most people staying home on New Year’s Eve due to the ongoing pandemic, many more eyes than usual were on the NYE TV specials. And CNN capitalized on the moment, dominating social media speech by getting Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen to get drunk in the air.

There were no crowds in Times Square this year, but other than that, these New Year’s Eve specials took place as usual. This created a strange atmosphere for the night, and Cooper and Cohen enjoyed the country vibe by playing tequila on TV, while everyone at home did the same.

Cooper and Cohen started the party at 8 pm Eastern time, with their first photos of the night. And, well, it looked like Anderson probably could have used a hunter.

And things got bigger from there, as they continued to drink through the night. Some of the highlights included Stephen Colbert calling to make a scene with Cooper and Cohen remotely, and a visit by Snoop Dogg in which the rapper discussed several public places he was stoned on – a conversation that made Cooper laugh hysterically. And let’s not forget the shadow that Cohen threw at New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.

That tweet above CJ Fogler it’s the beginning of a list of videos of Cooper and Cohen taking pictures, so if you want more of these videos, it’s a good place to start.

This is not the first time that Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper have spent New Year’s Eve getting drunk live on CNN, although this is a very recent tradition. Given the exciting reception that this show has received this year – the show has been on Twitter all night and most of the morning – it is likely to be a tradition that is here to stay.

It’s a formula that makes sense, especially for a year as little fun as 2020. There are few things a celebrity could do today that could be more identifiable to viewers than getting drunk.
