Evers calls the lack of a second dose of the vaccine “slap in the face”

Governor Evers

MADISON, Wisconsin (AP) – Governor Tony Evers is criticizing federal officials for promising to release the rest of their COVID-19 vaccine stock when it apparently ran out.

Evers said on Friday that Vice President Mike Pence and US Secretary of Health Alex Azar promised governors earlier this week that the Trump administration would launch the vaccine it was retaining to speed up inoculations. But word got out Friday that the reserve was already depleted when those promises were made.

Evers said it is a “slap in the face” for the people of Wisconsin. Evers has received strong criticism from Republicans about the slow pace of vaccine launch in Wisconsin.
