Evanescence Detail Graphic Anthology Series ‘Echoes From the Void’

Evanescence has announced a new series of comic books, Echoes From the Void. The five-volume fantasy anthology features stories based on themes from the band’s songs.

The first title – written by Carrie Lee South and Blake Northcott, illustrated by Abigail Larson and Kelly McKernan – is inspired by “Better Without You” and the recent single “Wasted on You”, which will appear on her next fifth LP, The bitter truth.

“I am so excited about this series of projects,” said Evanescence singer Amy Lee in a statement from the anthology, part of Incendium’s OPUS label. “The possibilities are endless. Collaborating on art forms like this is so unique, and it has been fascinating to see how many different lives a song can have, as alternative realities. I am looking forward to working on it throughout the year and I am very honored to open this one. new world for our music. ”

Lee took an active role in the series, overseeing the creative direction of stories and art. The debut print of each issue will be sold as a limited edition comic book, limited to 3,000 copies each. The first is now available for pre-order and, according to the Incendium website, will be launched in June. A limited edition glow-in-the-dark lithograph is also available for order.

The bitter truth, released on March 26, is Evanescence’s first LP of new material since its self-titled LP of 2011. “The energy was just increased,” said Lee Rolling Stone in November, detailing their latest recording sessions. “We were there on fire. Now, the guys are back at their homes, and I’m going through all the consequences of the whole song, putting the pieces together and finishing the album. “

She noted that blocking the pandemic gave the group more time to “calm down” and concentrate. “Even on days when I don’t want to,” she said, “I come here and think, ‘Let’s do this. We will finish the album. ‘”
