Evan Fournier is the second Celtics player in 25 seasons to accomplish that feat

Evan Fournier recovered from his difficult start at the Boston Celtics in style Friday night.

After scoring just six points in his first two games with C, Fournier lost 23 in the win over the Houston Rockets. Twenty of those points came in the fourth period, when he had a perfect 7-to-7 on the field (6-to-6 out of 3).

Time Lord brings together the best game of his career in C’s victory

The ex-Orlando Magic striker’s seven-point, three-point total marked a high point in his career, but that wasn’t his only impressive achievement in the game. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Fournier has become the second C player in the past 25 seasons to drop 20 out of 100 percent in a quarter.

The last Celtic with a coin like that? That would be Paul Pierce, who scored 20 points in the third quarter of a 2009 game against the Chicago Bulls.

Not bad for the Celtics newcomer.

These numbers from the longtime Celtics radio voice, Sean Grande, really put Fournier’s stellar fourth quarter into perspective:

Fournier will try to take the momentum from Friday’s performance to Sunday’s game against Charlotte Hornets. The tip for this clash is set for 6 pm Eastern Time.
