Evacuations from the Camp Pendleton area underway with the Creek fire

Evacuation orders were in effect at Camp Pendleton, Calif., On Thursday, when a forest fire in the area known as Creek Fire grew to cover about 300 acres, according to a report.

The evacuation zone extended to the Fallbrook area, about 11 kilometers northeast of Camp Pendleton, FOX 5 in San Diego reported.

The Fallbrook evacuation applies to about 7,000 residents, Cal Fire and San Diego County firefighters posted on a joint Twitter account.

Another 5,000 residents or more are located in the Camp Pendleton area, home to the Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, about 50 miles north of San Diego.

The North County Fire Twitter account noted that the mandatory evacuation notice applies to residents living on multiple networks on the map.

He also tweeted that the winds were pushing the fire away from the area at 3:02 am PST, but “if the wind changes these areas will be the first to be impacted”.

The road closure was in effect on the De Luz road in the Sandia stream, and more fire fighting resources were being brought into the area, according to the season.

A temporary evacuation station was set up at Fallbrook High School, the report said.
