UPDATED with quotes: Hulu’s Strident is coming to an end. The next third season of the comedy series starring Aidy Bryant will be the last.
Strident was developed by Bryant, showrunner Alexandra Rushfield and Lindy West and inspired by West’s book Strident: Notes from a loud woman.
The praised comedy was renewed for a third season last March. Season 3 is scheduled to open in the spring of 2021, but a specific date has not been set.
Season 3 production ended a month ago. Bryant posted a photo on Instagram.
Season 3 of Strident finds Annie (Bryant) energized by her break with unsuccessful boyfriend Ryan and her new dynamic at work. Annie feels that everything is finally coming together for her, but does she really know how to get what she wants?
“Strident it was one of the most creatively satisfying experiences of my life, a real labor of love for me and everyone who worked so hard on it, ”said Bryant. “We are incredibly proud of this upcoming third and final season and we are very grateful to the audience that connected with this story. I am deeply honored to have worked so closely with the writers, cast and crew to do Strident while I continue my work in SNL, is a time that I will never forget. I have infinite love for our team in Portland and am excited to be back in NY and reunite my other working family in SNL Meantime.”

The cast also includes Lolly Adefope, Ian Owens and John Cameron Mitchell.
