After the protest over Florida Judge Carlos Sucre’s score in the Estrada-Chocolatito 2 fight on Saturday night, the WBA “temporarily suspended” Sucre pending an “assessment” of its performance in the fight.
Sucre scored the 117-111 fight for Estrada (42-3, 28 KO’s), who won a split decision over Chocolatito Gonzalez (50-3, 41 KO’s) and unified the WBC and WBA titles at 115 pounds. Gonzalez arrived holding the WBA belt. The WBC has shown no interest in suspending Sucre, but I suppose it could also make that kind of gesture probably empty.
Like, they didn’t even tweet the right scorecard image about it. They used the McCaskill-Braekhus fight:
So yes, consider me skeptical of any CONSEQUENCES !! The sanctioning bodies do this kind of thing from time to time to respond and give the impression that they care about what others think, but the most likely outcome is, basically, nothing will happen.
