Epic promises $ 20 million for Fortnite eSports in 2021

Fifteen days Developer Epic says that for 2021, the game’s competitive landscape will have a total prize pool of $ 20 million. That’s an increase from last year’s $ 17 million total – although it’s not as massive as the 2019 World Cup, where $ 30 million was at stake.

The news arrives as Epic provides details about the last season of Fifteen days Champion Series, the highest level of competition in the game. The developer previously said that all competitions would take place online, and today, revealed more details about the schedule: the qualifiers start on February 4, with the finals starting on March 12. In homage to the global nature of the game, there will also be three separate new broadcasts with commentary in French, German and Spanish.

There are several other changes to format and punctuation; you can check the Epic blog post for the full summary. “Our overall goal is to create better consistency throughout the year and tie the 2021 seasons together for a more cohesive experience,” says Epic.

As for the prize, there will be four seasons of the FNCS in 2021, with a total of $ 3 million in cash prizes for each. But Epic says there are additional tournaments on the way. “We also have plans for mid-year and end-of-year competitions, in which we will bring together the best performing FNCS players in each region in various competitive formats,” explains the developer. The remaining $ 8 million will serve as a cash prize for those tournaments yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, earlier today, Epic revealed a new partnership that will see 23 different professional football teams featured in the game.
