If you are a player – or just visit the Cheapskate occasionally – you probably know that Epic Games distributes at least one free game every Thursday. Epic is shaking things up a little bit until the end of 2020. Every day until the New Year, Epic is offering a different free game. So, not only will you need to act fast to get your free game, but it’s also worth checking in frequently. If you play your cards right, you have a chance to accumulate 10 more games in 2021.
Wednesday’s free game is Tropico 5, the fifth installment of everyone’s favorite dictator simulator. This $ 20 title is about how you can control your island nation and prosper from the colonial period to the 21st century.
After Wednesday, I will be on vacation with my Oculus Quest 2 and Stadia responds for the rest of the week. If you’re curious, it looks like the remaining games over the weekend will be Inside, Darkest Dungeon, My Time At Portia and Night in the Woods (these links go to their respective GameSpot pages if you want to know more). Want one for free? You have 24 hours, starting at 8am PT (11am ET) every morning to claim the game of the day, after which it will be replaced by the next day’s entry.
If you’re new to Epic’s weekly giveaway, here’s how it works: if you don’t already have one, sign up for your free Epic account. Then just get your free game, yours forever. You don’t even need to install it right away if you don’t want to.
The full list of free daily games for the rest of the year was leaked. According to @jovanmunja, a non-affiliated Twitter user, the list of games for the rest of the year is like this. Having tweeted on December 18th, the list perfectly matches the releases we’ve seen so far, and this is the list I’m counting on at the beginning of the article to say which games will be available over the holiday weekend:

Epic Games did not respond to a request for comment on the list, but, as noted, it is correct so far, so we have no reason to believe that the rest of the games on the list will not come either.
