Enormous Fallout: New Vegas mod The Frontier removed by its developers

Fallout: The Frontier, a huge mod for Fallout: New Vegas, has been in development for years and was released last week. It has now been taken offline by its own creators, because a developer would have “posted animated pedophile content” on his personal artist accounts.

If you visit the mod page on Nexus Mods, this is the message you will see:

Some deeply disturbing news has surfaced in the past few hours. We have recently been notified that one of our developers, ZuTheSkunk, has posted animated pedophile content on his personal artist accounts. The items in question are deeply disturbing to the entire team, and we condemn them most vehemently. ZuTheSkunk has been removed from the Development Team and banned from our Community Discord. We will be conducting a dialogue with members of the development team to hear their views on the current situation and help make our decision more informed. We stopped production and worked on the mod to deal with current events properly. More action will be taken and a more detailed address will be published soon.

The views, thoughts and opinions expressed in the mod and outside it belong exclusively to the authors who write them, and not to the organization, community or other group or individual of the mod.

I’m not sure how “the mod organization” and any “group or individual” can claim to be unaware of the “mod” work done by their fellow groups and individuals. This is important, because before it went live, there was already criticism of the content of the mod.

In particular, players complained about fetish characters and a specific mission line through which the player could enslave a teenager. Slavery has been a theme in many official Fallout games, but there is a difference between portraying it and allowing players to have fun with it, as The Frontier seems to do.

On twitter, the mod’s official account said reiterated his statement above and added: “We will be making changes to Frontier to remove inappropriate lines and content. This will be our final construction.” It is not yet known exactly what content will be removed – nor is it clear whether ZuTheSkunk had anything to do with the creation of that content.

Ugh.
