Elvis Presley Biopic by Baz Luhrmann pushed for launch in 2022

The filmmaker’s untitled film had been set to premiere on the big screen and at HBO Max in November this year.

The untitled biography of Elvis Presley by Baz Luhrmann is singing a new melody.

Warner Bros. announced on Thursday that the film will now open in theaters on June 3, 2022, instead of November 5, 2021.

The change means that the film may have a traditional screening in theaters, instead of being one of the Warner Bros. titles. 2021 with release date and date in theaters and on HBO Max.

Newcomer Austin Butler is starring in the biopic as Presley, with Maggie Gyllenhaal casting as Gladys Presley, the singer’s mother. Tom Hanks stars as Colonel Tom Parker, the manager who controlled all aspects of Presley’s life.

The film is described as focusing on Presley’s rise to stardom, with a particular focus on the star’s relationship with Parker.

Luhrmann is producing the feature with his wife, Catherine Martin. He wrote the screenplay with Craig Pearce, with whom he also wrote The big Gatsby and Moulin Rouge!

Production of the untitled biopic was suspended last summer after Hanks’ positive test for the new coronavirus.
