Elon Musk, the outspoken entrepreneur behind Tesla Inc. and SpaceX, is now the richest person in the world – a feat he himself considers “strange”.

Elon Musk overtook Jeff Bezos on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a ranking of the 500 richest people in the world, thanks to a 4.8% rise in the electric company’s share price on Thursday. But even with his net worth reaching a whopping $ 188.5 billion, Musk himself was eager to get back to work.

On Thursday, a Twitter account called ‘Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley’ shared news with the 49-year-old business tycoon who became the richest person in the world and got an ironic response from Musk himself.

“How strange,” replied Elon Musk, and went on to say, “Well, back to work …”

Last year, Elon Musk’s net worth soared by more than $ 150 billion, possibly in the fastest wealth creation spurt in history, according to a Bloomberg report. A tweet posted on his Twitter profile explains what he wants to do with the money.

“About half of my money goes to help problems on Earth and the other half to help establish a self-sustaining city on Mars to guarantee the continuation of life (of all species) in case the Earth is hit by a meteor like dinosaurs or World War 3. destroy ourselves, “explains Elon Musk in a 2018 tweet.

After overtaking Jeff Bezos as the richest person in the world, Mr. Musk – who talked about sending humans to Mars in the past – reiterated his promise.

When a Twitter account simply called Mars asked him, “When is our first date? Have you been teasing,” he replied, “Playing the long game.”

Elon Musk says he has little interest in material things and few assets outside of his holdings at Tesla and SpaceX. In an interview last month, he said he wants to use his wealth to build a city on Mars.

“I want to be able to contribute as much as possible to the city of Mars,” said Elon Musk. “It means a lot of capital.”
