Russia has not ruled out the idea that President Vladimir Putin will speak to billionaire Tesla Elon Musk on the social media app Clubhouse, according to several media reports.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday that the proposal was “interesting”, but more details were needed, according to the Tass news agency. The news was also released by Reuters and Russian media RBC.

“First, we want to find out, you know that President Putin does not directly use social networks, he personally does not manage them,” said Peskov, according to translated comments.

“In general, this is a very interesting proposal, but you must first understand what is meant, what is proposed”.

The Kremlin did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

On Saturday, Musk invited Putin on Twitter to chat with him at Clubhouse, an audio-only app that is growing rapidly after gaining popularity in Silicon Valley.

The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX then said in Russian: “It would be a great honor to speak with you.”

The Clubhouse has been downloaded about five million times, according to the app tracker App Annie. Like other U.S. social media platforms, it was blocked in China last week.

The invite-only iPhone app allows people to chat “on stage” while the audience listens. Audience members can be invited “on stage” to ask questions of speakers.

Musk interviewed Robinhood co-founder Vlad Tenev at the Clubhouse on January 30, and last Wednesday the businessman wrote on Twitter that he agreed to “make the Clubhouse” with Kanye West.

Last month, the Clubhouse was valued by investors at about $ 1 billion. Twitter launched its own version, known as Spaces, while Facebook is reportedly working on a similar product.
