In this week’s issue of “Did Elon Musk really just say that?” we found him talking to podcaster (and isolation / psychedelic tank enthusiast) Joe Rogan about making the new Tesla Roadster hover.

“I want it to hover and I was trying to figure out how to make this thing hang without, you know, killing people,” said Musk in a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, released on Thursday. “Maybe it can hover like a meter above the ground, or something. If you fall, the suspension will explode, but you won’t die.”

Remember, this is an addition to your idea of putting rocket propellers on the Roadster – something he spoke at length in 2018. Is any of these things likely to happen and available in a production vehicle that is sold to customers? Our guess is not a difficult one. Is it okay to whip all the rabid Elon stans in a foam? You bet.

During his visit to the Rogan podcast – your third – Musk also talked about the now infamous incident during the opening of Cybertruck, in which chief designer Franz Von Holzhausen broke the supposedly unbreakable window glass. Musk later explained why he doesn’t think it will be something to worry about in production models.

“Production glass is much more robust than demonstration glass,” said Musk. “You need to have huge tools and ovens to make production glass, and it takes time to make it. Production glass is always better than demonstration glass.”
